NanoReady is an immersive training program that prepares career-changers, transitioning service members, and adult workers for high-demand jobs in nanotechnology and emerging hardware. You’ll gain real skills, work in cutting-edge labs, and become eligible to interview for a paid internship with regional industry partners, all in one powerful pathway.
Your Step-By-Step Journey
Phase 1
February 16 – March 1, 2026 | 20 hours total
Online Foundations
A two-week online course through GMU Canvas introduces you to the essentials of nanofabrication and prepares you for hands-on training.
Phase 2
March 9 – August 31, 2026 | ~240 hours total
Hands-On Training at GMU
Bootcamp Week (March 9-13)
A full-time, in-person bootcamp (40 hours) at GMU’s SciTech campus, providing structured training in nanofabrication processes and lab safety.
Lab Experience (March 16-Aug 31)
Approximately 10 hours per week for about 20 weeks of in-person lab training
Lab locations are assigned based on placement and availability and may take place at GMU’s SciTech or Fairfax campus
Phase 3
Industry Internship Placement
After completing your training, you’ll have the chance to interview for a 12-week, full-time internship with regional employers. Internship placements span a range of sectors, including semiconductors and microelectronics, life sciences and biotechnology, AI and quantum technologies, aerospace and defense, and cybersecurity and data center engineering. Participants who secure internship placements earn $20/hour and gain practical industry exposure that can lead to future opportunities.
